Default Parking brake anchor pin

I'm rebuilding the parking brakes on my '69. I don't see a way to remove one of the anchor pins. Do you just re-use the old one or am I missing something?

Thanks.

If it's like my '79, you need to remove the hub to get the clearance to replace one of those pins. I had to reuse the old one in that position.

Can you share a picture?

It's on my list of projects.

Yes, you re-use the old one.

It can't be removed...if you're talking about the pin that the spring and cup goes on

It can't be removed unless you remove the shield from the spindle support. I've got one customer that bent his shield back to get it in there but then the shield rubbed the rotor when he got done and he had to pry it back after the install was finished.

These may help you out.

Here is an arm, less the axle and bearings.

Here is a new backing plate with pins. I used to advise the first timers to RTV the pins in place to help install the springs and cups. When I assemble them I don't RTV them, I assemble the shoes to the plate and install in place.

Before you install the parts be sure to check the fit of the pins to cups, spring ends, star wheel to shoes and overall length of the star wheel. I automatically go through the new SS kits when I get them as they all need attention.

This is what you are going to look at when you start.

I was able to replace the pin. I removed the 4 nuts and lock washers. I loosened the bolt that retains the parking brake anchor block. This allowed me to tilt out the backing plate and replace the pin.
