Default Well now the seats are becoming a pain in the butt.

I had a previous thread where all I wanted to do was replace the seat back foam. Well the seat cover ripped at where the hole was cut for the seat back button. a weak area because it had been cut..
Well I ordered new covers. Installing them and the seams ripped at the back of the bottom cushion. Watched the video and everything. I had installed covers on my 77 and had no problems.
I rolled them over like the video say, heated them up and then pow ripped.

Does anyone just sell the bottoms. Called Corvette America where I got them and they don't.

Can you have the rips patched on the INSIDE, and resewn.....maybe put the cover in the clothes dryer for a few minutes before installing it which would cause the WHOLE cover to expand......repeat for each cover.

I took my seats into a local upholstery shop and was shocked by how little they charged for a repair to a seat. Best 25.00 I spent on that car. Check it out you might be surprised.

I have issues with these products,
Seats take a lot of wear and tear unless some garage queen,
Seems the issues you had could have happened from use,

Have you contacted cc to see if they will help or like with most all cases like this the seller blames the buyer

Where, Corvette America? They would say it happened during installation. I should have had a pro do it.

I brought them to an upholsterer yesterday, he repaired the spots and I had them install the seat covers. It was $200. I did one back cover. Came out great. I may bring the other to him and have him do it.

I just tried to put the other back cover on and it ripped. Ordered another set and will bring it to the guy to do. This crap is to expensive to mess it up. So I will have a couple extra seat covers.

I am having absolutely no luck with these seats. I had the 4 pieces done and were putting the seats together. I went upstairs to get something to drink and when I went back into the garage the table had fallen and the seat had gone up against the bench and ripped. That happened Sunday and just received a new set of seat covers. i am pissed.

I should have broken out the crystal ball. Is it really free. How much to ship your stuff to them. Lets say $100. Then to ship the full seats back to you. How much? $150 each. Would that be freight? So that's about $400. You could probably have them done locally for maybe another $50-$75. And have them back in a couple of days. And if a problem comes up you don't have to send them back.

My local shop wants $500 to do all the reupholstery work including the price for new seat foam with a new set of covers I will supply that I bought for $150. A lot less headaches for me and will look way better.

Last year, and to my knowledge CA didn't do the free seat installations... I can tell you we just shipped a set of 67 seats back to a customer and the cost was right at 100.00. So it may be cheaper to find someone locally to do it if you count both ways and the time to box and ship.

I do all the installations myself in the shop (It's one of the few actual jobs that I do these days) and even I have torn the rear edge of the seat covers before. While you can pull and tug like all get up on the leather covers, if you pull or stress the vinyl (or leather likes) they will tear so you have to be careful when you put these on.

I've done probably 20 installs this year on C3 alone. The 68-69 seats are a breeze, the 70-75 takes more effort and are kind of a pain, the 1976-1978 seats are easier (no back molding).
