1971 egg crate louvers
question in regards to the threaded bolt to hold grille in place
Is this a threaded in rod, our is it attached to grille .
mine are broken off and I cant tell if I can simply drill and easy out the piece.

here is an ebay set. last 2 pics are good reference. https://www.ebay.com/itm/71-72-Corve...BYPfHM&vxp=mtr it wont be easy to drill. it wont easy out at all. maybe try to gas weld a bolt to the broken stud. the heat of welding will then release the bolt from the pot metal grille. and it might just unscrew. put a nut halfway down the bolt. use 1/4-20. then if it doesn't come out, cut the bolt head off, unscrew the nut to clean up end of thread.

it is held on by 2 screws in the top as well
I have 2 sided tape holding in the bottom temporarily
they were siliconed in by previous owner I assume.

I would be tempted to squeeze in another dallop of clear sillycone and leave them be. Could break off or melt that lower lug trying to get bolts out.
