Detailing Cleaning Washing Waxing
I have recently purchased a 1972 Vette in excellent condition (childhood dream). I'd like to make sure I'm using the right cleaning products as I do not want to harm the original War Bonnet Yellow paint, and original like new saddle interior.
I would appreciate any advice on using the correct cleaning, waxing, and conditioning products for the following:
1. Soap for washing
2. What kind of wax or polish
3. Cleaning and conditioning the interior (door panels, dash, vinyl seats, etc.)
4. Chrome polish
5. Hoses and weather stripping conditioner
6. And most important of all, a chill pill for my wife as I seem to be spending too much time with the car. At least I'll be ready if it comes to that!

Hi RB,
I guess the first thing is to know what paint system was used for the exterior the last time it was painted.
Snigle stage?
Base coat/clear coat?
Acrylic lacquer?
Knowing that will help you get started in the proper 'family' of products to use on the exterior.
Regards,
Alan

Melting Slicks
There will be difference of opinion on 1-4 so I will throw my hat in for #5,

I use it on the weather strip. Great product and easy to use. Also anything 303 aerospace protectant.

Anyone else use some scrubbing bubbles to clean the grease and gunk under the hood? You can go plain or lemon scent. I was scared to death and skeptical to say the least, so tried it on my wife's Camry first... and voila we're talking like antibacterial clean and the grease melted away. So tried it on my Corvette and made sure to cover areas I didn't want wet. Works beautifully, had to do a couple rounds but was awesome. Now my wife wonders why we have so much bathroom cleaner around (bought the big pack at Costco).
