Default 1972 Black Switch
I saw a 1972, supposedly all original car that had a large black plastic on/off type switch down by the driver's right leg in the side of the console.

Any idea as to what it is for?

Sorry I didn't take a pic.

It is for the rear defrost.

It uses a fan to clear the window instead of wires in the glass.

The C50 rear window defrost (or C49 defogger) was optional for several model years.
