"Barn find" the new basketcase?
Seems terms and their meanings change,
"barn find"
In my corvette world for decades to me it was synonymous with getting the best toy in your crackerjacks,
It was a desirible year and optioned car that was more less a survivor that could be freshened up and ran or restored as a stunner, Normally it wasnt just an old ragged out base model
But seems for the last several years "barn find" is used for any pos, more rust than car mess that some flipper wants to unload on someone not savvy enough that they are asking double, triper or more to its real value,
Okay, flame away, tell me this one is worth way more than 10k

Just another Corvette guy
Seller is stoned.
If he got half his asking price he'd be doing well.

Okay raven you might have best cl ad of 2017 for me there,
The seller already knows he is out to lunch by saying " before you start trolling"
But 13k and no title and a poorly built kit car...too cool,
I recall a guy trying to sell a chopped down c2 a while back, it was like channed or split and all mucked up,
But snarky bat aside,
I would swap my real 69 for a mess like that, IF it was convertible and could be driven, i dont care if its a real vette or kit or rebuilt title, im odd that way,

Since I am in the middle of restoring my own "barn find" I have a few comments that may or may not make sense.
In my case the joy of my barn find was finding a toy that NEEDED lots of work. My vette is like an Revell model car but bigger and made of (rusty) metal, not plastic.
Maybe these basket case cars are getting harder to find. Would I pay 10K? Probably not but the value of the toy and the enjoyment of the restoration is hard to quantify. If you are looking for just value for resale, that is a whole different conversation that I can't contribute any meaningful input. But if you are looking for a toy to rebuild and drive yourself and maybe let your family drive, it may be that car gets bought by someone like myself.

I wouldn't even buy it for 3k.
And you are absolutely right. The same type of thing with "would make a good 'rat rod'" bs you see people say.
In other words, "It's a piece of $@*#, you would never want to restore".

Chaz,
That kit car is one of those money pits that has been shuffled from one guy to the next,
It doesnt have a title yet and is really still a mess,
Vb,
I build for me for fun not for investment,
However not overpaying is important to me,
I think the 69 is a great project i just dont see 10k there, if the next guy does cool....

Bats, I get it. I don't like overpaying either. The big question is how many barn finds are left and how many like us are around and still kicking? It is a wonderful free market thing....kinda the Bitcoin for wrench turners

:Taps: (not the dancing kind) It would be a nice car for an Optimist to "save", though.....with a 60% discount and free shipping!

I agree with bats on this one. EVERY pos is now a "barn find"...... buzz words to transform garbage into something wonderful. Just like the working girls on the corner claiming to be "virgins".

And more and more pos c3s are popping up, parts cars if that at project prices,
Do the sellers come down to earth, or do the cars rust into the ground
Its sad,

the term barnfind just sounds sexier and more mysterious than basketcase.....

The thing with "barn find" cars is they were under a roof. Otherwise they become this... https://redirect.viglink.com/?format...3Fq%3Dcorvette

Okay, My car is now a barn find. My garage is built onto the back of a barn and I find my car in there everyday. Wooo Hooo!!!!!
I like the first ad with the rear view mirror rotted off the door, thats a good selling point
