The polished louver inserts are an option for 1969, but people put them on 68s routinely. And not all '69s have them, so it doesnt really tell you anything for sure.

71 clear front turn signal lamps, 72 amber.
70 - as stated no screws in the front grille , clear lenses.
Mirrors are different. Chrome vs black back, interior
71 - If alarm - pre March same as 68-70 switch, after March looks like door key lock , to end of 73.Rear Panel 71 - 72.
72 no fiber optics, no HP on center console.
There is a lot more...

Hi,
Once you decide it's NOT a 70, (because of the difference in the side grills), and that it's either a 71 or 72.... IF it DOESN'T have the alarm switch on the tail-light panel, it HAS to be a 71, because the alarm was still an option in 71. (One can be fooled by a 71 WITH the alarm option).
So,
then look at the shifter console to see if it has the front and rear fiber-optics bezel/lenses... a 71 car will have them, and 72 car won't.
Regards,
Alan

Thank you for all the response's, below is the revised list (sorry for the confusion on the '74, i meant split rubber bumper):
'68 = door push buttons/taillights/Rectangular back up lights under rear bumper
'69 = shark gills/Back up lights integrated into tail lights/"Stingray" chrome script added to front fenders above the side vents
'70 = No screws in front bumperettes/eggcrate side vents chromed horizontal only
'71 = Screws in front bumperettes/eggcrate side vents chromed horizontal and vertical/green instrument Lights
'72 = amber front turn signals/no fiber optics/No HP listed on interior plate or air cleaner/white instrument lights/rear alarm key now standard
'73 = rubber front bumper no bumperettes, chrome rear bumpers (this is the easiest year to identify)
'74 = split rubber rear bumper/ rubber front bumper no bumperettes
'75 = solid rear bumper w bumperettes/solid front bumper w bumperettes/rear letters are individual
'76 = “Vega” steering wheel/ ”corvette” is one piece on the rear bumper/Last “Stingray” emblems
'77 = crossed flag emblems
'78 = 25th anniversary emblems/large rear window with chrome trim
'79 = crossed flag emblems like '77/large rear window with black trim
'80 = front and rear bumpers changed/emblems have chrome around them/wiper bezel black
'81 = emblems are black around them/wiper bezel interior color
'82 = crossfire injection emblems/4 speed auto
It still seems that the most difficult to tell are 70-71.

'76s do not have the rear vents for the Astro Ventilation.
'80 Rocker panels have an aluminum edge at the top '81-82 are completely black.

Pre 72 gauges were green as was the radio, 72 has white gauges and radio faces,
Easiest ways to tell 71 from 72 is the front turn signal lenses: clear 71, amber for 72.
67 - 72 early interior mirror SS housing, Then black housing for 72/ 73

'68 = door push buttons/taillights
Rectangular back up lights under
rear bumper
'69 = shark gills
Back up lights integrated into tail lights
"Stingray" chrome script added to front fenders
above the side vents
'70/'71 =??? first year square exhaust tips, fender flares were designed into the body contours to reduce wheel-thrown debris damage
'72 = amber front turn signals/no fiber optics
'73 = front bumper
'74 = split rear bumper
'75/'76 = '76 has different steering wheel
'77 = crossed flag emblems
'78 = 25th anniversary emblems
'79 = crossed flag emblems like '77
'80/'81 = ????
'82 = crossfire injection emblems
What are the "at a glance" differences between a '70 and '71, and between an '80 and '81? I do know that if it's a 2 tone, it's an '81 built in Bowling Green... but is there any other way to tell "at a glance"?
Thank You in advance

The 77 had some interior changes that transitioned into the 78-82 interior.
The pace car style 3 spoke steering wheel, the thumb wheel climate controls gave way to the slide selector, the console had the carpet on the sides. New center gauge cluster bezel. But the tach and speedo were seperate gauges as earlier.

Correction on the back window trim on a 78. Some had a black painted inner strip, not all bright stainless. Pace Cars had all black. Also the window was not limited to a 78 as it continued so not a way to spot a 78. Easiest is the 25th emblem.
Steering wheel could be of the 77 variety if you did not get T/T in 78.
