yes, but your way would mean someone was using common sense, which is as we all know, something a lot of people are lacking these days. I'm only 46 and of course didn't drive our cars new, but I did have a 71 Cutlass as my first car and had no trouble getting around in even the worst snow in central VA. As you said, easy on the gas, easy on the brake.

My '75 was my only car for almost 10 years. Rain, snow, whatever. Used to drive it up to Mt. Baker to go skiing. Two lane snow packed road. No problem.
