Does anyone make a tall finned stock appearing SBC valve cover?
I've been on the hunt for something like this for a long time now. I need some valve covers that clear my roller rockers on my SBC that appear stock. Right now the only option I have is to use a spacer and I'm trying t avoid that.

PML make a set of cast aluminum covers that are taller than normal, (supposed to clear rollers) but they're quite spendy

Mooser types faster than I do...
I used PML valve covers for my GMPP crate motor- love the script / finish and I needed the PCV holes on the sides for a cleaner look. PML makes taller units for your application as well.

Super nice folks and I had my covers in a week.
On my ‘66:
As for the cost, I hate money anyway and already spent the coin on the motor with alum heads, etc., so WTH...
Good luck.

Yeah but those look too big for a small block. Mostly the valve covers have a hard time clearing the polylocks, not the actual rockers. We ain't running solids. Don't need polylocks for constant valve adjustments. Why people don't use new jam nuts instead I don't get...

I have a set of 4 on the flange, cast aluminum SBC valve covers, been painted and setting on the shelf for many years now...they did run with roller rockers, years ago.....I can measure/pix if you want....
Lemme know via PM if you interested

I have Scorpion roller rockers (Endurance series I believe?) that have shorter poly locks and are designed to fit under stock valve covers.
I use these under my finned L-46 valve covers with no issues.

I don't want to derail the thread too much, but I like it a lot. I'm using it to control timing too, and it really makes my grumpy 388 (11.1:1 compression ratio, 238/242@0.050" Crane hydraulic roller, heavily ported Edelbrock Performer RPM heads etc) very streetable and usable. Only dramas I've had with it have been exhaust header leaks resulting in rich running, can't really blame that on the Fitech. Easy starts and cold running, decent fuel economy, great low throttle and low rpm sensitivity/driveability/power, I'm very very happy with it. I've got about 12,000 miles on it now. I've had some pretty nice and well tuned carby cars, none have run as well as the Fitech, but I do think that the timing control is probably as big a factor as the fuel injection.

I love the scripted covers but I'm really trying to get some original to my 70. I may just have to test fit my original set and see if I can pull off the double gasket / removed drippers trick. It did not work for me on my big block with scorpion enduros though (but I was able to use factory appearing taller covers for those). The spacer look isn't horrible but I'm still looking for other options.

Hi USMC 0802,
Just to say thank you for suggesting PML.
Seeing your Corvette motivated me.
I told myself that I would put them on as soon as we had a nice day and today was great!

I got these off eBay. They clear my rollers just fine. These come in tall and short versions. Heavy castings, very nice quality. Very inexpensive. Yeah, they aren't close to matching in stock appearance, but close enough for a modified car.....

Peterbuilt,
Wow, that looks great! I like the contrast of the black air cleaner unit and the chrome ignition shielding.
Not cheap, but they’re well made USA units!
Congrats on a spiffy engine bay!
