Wiper arms
My ‘68 had no wipers when I bought it, but there were some arms in a box, though. I mounted them and they seemed ok. But when I went to put the wiper door on, it seems like the passengers side sticks too far up (the door won’t close). Do I have the wrong arms or did I do something wrong?

Melting Slicks
The blades and blade holders are the problem. You need lower profile blades as the originals did not stick up that high.
Technically the arms are not correct either, but I do not believe that is the issue. A 68' did not have the washer tubes on the arms, they were mounted to the lower side of the wiper door.

Hi EM,
I believe typically the tip of the BLADE on the LEFT arm touches the center of the 'stop' bracket.....
While the tip of the RIGHT side BLADE touches the the bent 'elbow' of the LEFT side arm.....
when the wiper motor has gone to the 'park' position.
Here are a pair of original wiper arms. They're from a 71 and have the metal washer tubes as jh described that your 68 won't have.
I believe the proper arms for your application are the same shape.
Regards,
Alan

Ricks Corvette and Wilcox has the correct ones, not cheap.
You may be able to use the ones you have if you go with a smaller blade on the passenger side and rehang the arm so it's further down.
I would try to straighten the drivers side to remove the curve ( near the blade) - it can be done but has to be done very carefully.
My truck has 2 different size blades and no one notices - it's factory.
I agree with Dub - 68 as you probably know by now is 68 only for most parts...

No sense in spending big dollars when the blades can be ordered through O'Reilly's. If their web site site wasn't down I would have posted an example. I did the same thing when I first got my 76 and ended up having O'Reilly's ordering a pair.

Alan,
It's hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like my right arm may be different from yours. Does yours have the bend only at the top? Also, from your description of where they should end up in the "park" position, what do mine need? When you say the right one touches the left elbow, I'm not sure if you mean they should just line up better than they do.
If I need to order wiper arms, I will. But they are $100+ (which seems more than a little steep) so I want to make sure I wouldn't just get two more like I have. Thanks so much for your great pics. I'd love to see that car someday...
Rescue,
I have so many "incorrect" parts on this car, it would make your head spin... It had a '74 front clip and interior bits from '68 to '74. I've got the "big" stuff right, but the interior is still going to be mostly '70-ish.
ntfday,
I live in Springfield, too. The home of O'Reilly! I worked at 12 different O'Reilly stores during college and beyond. Great company. But they're typically pretty hit-and-miss when it comes to this stuff, so I'd stuck with the Corvette-specific places for most parts (except, of course, engine parts and such). If they have the arms, though, it's worth a shot. Thanks.

Hi EM,
Here are the original arms and blades from my 71.
They're in the 'park' position.
I'm not certain how similar they are to those that were on your 68 originally.
The photos I see seem to indicate that either they're the same or that they're very similar.
Regards,
Alan

Perfect. Thanks so much. I think what I have is right. I just need to figure out why I have interference. I'll play with it tonight and see what I see.

These pictures are what I have in my 76 and I realize your 68 is going to be different but it appears the arms are pretty close. What you need, other than the correct parts, is the blades I have on mine and the chrome frames. All I have left in frames are 15" which fit a Mustang. If you can find 16" frames O'Reilly's sells the refills. Let me know if you want a set of 15" frames.
