Default 1982 corvette power antenna not working

hello everyone, was just wondering if any of you have changed your power antennas or rebuilt your original ones? I want to get an exact replica how hard or easy was it? And maybe best place to buy or get to repair an exact replica? Thank you in advance joe.

When I bought my '82, one of the first things I noticed was the the original power antenna was gone, and that Bubba had botch-installed a fixed mast. After looking for a bolt in replacement and not finding anything to my liking, I eventually found a broken OEM antenna. Replaced the plastic inner mast, and it's been working great ever since. You may have to be patient- I waited months before I found the right one. Check the forum, and eBay, regularly.

Most of the time, the plastic coil has busted and therefore the antenna mast does not go up. Listen to figure out if the motor is still running. If so it's a candidate for being rebuilt.

There have been a number of posts in the forum on this subject with some excellent technical assistance how to troubleshoot and repair power antennas. Use the search feature.

I would suggest contacting KapsSA with a private message (PM). For me he is the expert and a great forum member to deal with. If he doesnt have a 82 perhaps he can rebuild yours. Extremely helpful.

I’ve rebuilt my 82 antenna twice. As far as I know the replacement ant is a little different. The rebuild kit isn’t hard to do but to get it out is difficult if you can’t get the muffler out of the way.
