Default Help , is this a factory rare 77 horn button or has it been altered?

I've never seen one with the Allen Heads before ! Were there two styles, one with and one without them?

There were some early 77 buttons that were "shiny" and then recalled, IIRC something about a law that said no shiny items in front of the drivers (reflections and all that)
Then went back to the painted ones but with the newer flatter style
That one you show also has the older flags but that might have been non-T/T ??
I'd guess someone made it since the bolts are recessed and there probably wasn't enough meat there to do that?

The 77 sales brochure shows a horn button with Allen screws around the face of it, but I've never actually seen one on a 77 Corvette.

The retainer part, on the backside of the button, looks to be a machined piece. That would have been a pretty expensive way for GM to make a cap retainer. If I had to make a guess, I'd say it was either something someone with machining skills made, after seeing a 77 sales brochure, or maybe it's a GM prototype part? Since it's using the emblem from the plastic 4 spoke "Vega" wheel, I'm guessing it's a home made part.

No, that is not the original horn button for a 1977. The original horn button is polished aluminum but does not have Allen bolts. Here is a picture from my 1977 showing the original polished horn button.

The literature from 1977 has a few discrepancies from the actual automobiles. Notably are the circles on the horn button, and the missing crossed flags on the side panels of the car next to the alarm button. Only the 77 Early cars has the alarm button there too, it moved to the door lock later in production. The word Stingray was eliminated in 1977 but the flags which were used never made it on the literature.

I hope this helps.

I guess that pretty much settles it ! Comes down to there can be only one !

I would gladly have paid the $100. For it if it was the one !

Sure glad I didn't make a hundred dollar mistake!

Thanks everyone!
