Default Great Seat Belt Choice

While restoring the complete interior in my '73 I decided my old seat belts were just too beat to re-use. So I started the search for a good reproduction replacement set. I finally settled on this dual retractor set from Derby City Corvettes out of Plant City, Fla. Never dealt with them before, don't know much about them except for this one purchase but I can tell you the quality of this kit is beyond reproach and the price is very reasonable. The chrome plating is superb, color match is perfect, the netting is soft as velvet, the retractors are smoother than the originals were. Very nice quality all around. Cost was only $199 for the complete set with free shipping. Color selection to match just about any C3 interior (except green). Black, Silver, Blue, Red, Maroon, Brown, Saddle. I would recommend this set to anyone who needs to upgrade those old belts.

Wow Greg , that is going to be perfect for me !

I'm not at the point where I need them yet but a nice set is crazy money or they need to be completely redone!

Plus I can just stop in the next time I'm over in Tampa which is just an hour away!

Thanks for the tip!

I could be wrong, but I think there is only one company that actually makes the seat belts. Lots of distributors, but only one manufacturer.

Greg thanks for the post, hows about some pics of the belts in their natural habitat?

I'm redoing the my interior and you reminded me that the old belts will look out of place with new seat covers and carpet. These look period correct, are they they only source?

These are probably the ones you're looking at?

I bought a set of OEM style belts for my 70 from these people. Worked out pretty well other than having to drill a hole in the shoulder belt retractors for the stud. Instructions suggested removing the stud. I preferred to keep the studs, keep the retractors from rotating.

Yes Ron, My car had the shoulder harness as well. They offer sets without the shoulder harness for less money but of course, I believe you should add one also, if you can.

BB, these are the ones I bought. A hundred dollars less than your link.

It appears you bought the 3 point seat belt, not the premium in the link I posted.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-1973-C...640?rmvSB=true

This link states the differences.

http://www.seatbeltsplus.com/categor...eat-belts.html

Buckles are a bit different, starburst. No buckle sleeve.

Either set works. Depends on how close you want to get to the originals. Even the 'premium' set are NOT exact replicas of the originals.

BB, my set appears identical to the one in your post. I used a different supplier, perhaps that is the reason for the price difference. I am able to re-use my sleeves on this new set.

I bought a set of those for my 80. They worked great. I even found a set of the GM stickers for the push buttons.

Yes, you're right. I didn't pay close attention to which set I had posted in the first positing. Here's a link to the set I had in mind. This set has the GM buckles, sleeves, etc. My experience has been even the 'premium' set isn't an exact replica of the originals. Up to the buyer whether the 'premium' set warrants the extra cost.

Could be a few reasons your price was lower. A good price none the less.

Thanks for posting this. I am looking for some fair priced belts. Doesn’t look like they have them for a 69 though

Do you know the name of the manufacturer?
