Default 70 Center Gauge Surround Removal

I've done some searches with no luck. What is the easiest/best way to remove the center gauge surround to change some gauges? No AC. Thanks for any help I don't want to brake anything.

Start by removing the passenger side dash. Then unscrew and remove the wiper control and vent. The radio has to come out to the passenger side, after removing the brace, ***** and disconnect the coax, speakers and power. There are two nuts that hold the gauge panel to the center console. Loosen them enough to slide the panel out. Be careful handling the panel as they will break at the weak side points.

Hi F,
As FR stated.... you REALLY need to be careful handling the bezel.
This is especially true when re-installing it.
The bezel is designed with a very narrow section just above the gauges themselves... the idea being that in the case of a crash a person hitting the center of the dash would break the bezel rather than the bezel putting a 'dent' in the person.
Pushing on the top of the bezel to get it back in place can easily snap it... that's why there are so many broken bezels in cars.
Regards,
Alan

Alan, the 68 Corvette shop manual has NO mention about the delicate bezel. My clock died and snap! The 69 shop manual has BOLD lettering about how fragile the bezel is!!! Too late for me. Lou.
