Antenna ground plate and strap
Hey everyone
Finally I found an antenna for my 1977 C3.
It is a C2 style antenna (telecopic). I tried if hole size was good, and it fitted perfect. I kind of like the telecopic feature.
I have two problems, because there wasn't an antenna on my vette when I bought it:
1. I don't have a ground plate (which I need to fill the space so I can tighten the bolt of the antenna).
2. I don't have ground strap.
When I have to buy these two parts in Belgium it would cost me around €100. That I find too much.
Do you guys know what the dimensions of the plate are? So I can make it myself (It doesn't seem that hard to DIY).
I will also make a ground strap myself. Is there something to bear in mind for the strap?

Doesn't matter, just make a plate and tape it under the car and drill the hole in the plate using the hole in the quarter panel as a guide. No need for precision.
As you can see the factory plate has 3 holes with rubber snubbers in it. These are to avoid rattles. You should do something similar.

Hi N,
The hole for the antenna base is 4 3/4" from the forward (wide) end of the plate.
The plate is positioned by pushing the side of the plate tight againts the crease between the deck and fender.
Regards,
Alan
