New aftermarket gauges
Hello everyone, I know its probably on here somewhere but I can't find it. I am looking to upgrade instrument panel gauges to some decent autometer ones just do not know what size will fit in the original. Are they 2 1/8 or 2 5/8? I'm just looking to replace them with something that will mount in where the old ones were. The bezel I have is in good shape just need the size of the gages............thanks for everyone's help!

Very nice. I was going to ask about alternatives to Autometer. I have seen the Speedhut stuff and it is quite nice. Any other suggestions/brands?

Very nice Speedhut gauges. What are you doing about the indicator lights (park, hi beam, turn signals)?

I'm just here for the pictures. I've gotten as far as picking out which gauges I want (voltmeter, water temp, oil temp, oil pressure, vacuum), and which I can display electronically on hidden displays between the Tach and Speedo, and/or under the ash-tray cover (fuel, A/F ratio, GPS speed).
I was certain I'd use VDO Cockpit White gauges, but the tach and speedo come in 3 3/8" max. The VDO Vision series looks fine during the day, but MUCH better at night, though a bit anachronistic. The Vision series has a 4" tach and speedo with better ranges, too.
I haven't bought anything yet, still window shopping. I'll take a look at the Speedhut gauges, too.

Hmmm-
I went to a whole lot of trouble to make my gauges look stock from the front...
Running a voltmeter- oil temp ( have a dry sump) & pressure and water temp.
I put the water temp out in front- and added an idiot light for it (pic of radiator where the seat belt button was)
Old clock button is a manual override to turn on the fans- push one time -turns on one fan- push twice within 3 seconds turns on both.
Autometer behind the factory face-
tach can be remove w/ separate plug- Whole gauge pack uses one plug-
Used some junkyard parts to make removal with one plug-

Here's a teaser of what I'm doing. I'm 3D printing the center dash insert to hold the stock warning lights, plus an OLED panel that can act as a fuel gauge. I'll print the two sides to hold 4" gauges separately, since my 3D print bed isn't big enough to print it all as one piece.
The bottom Arduino microcontroller handles the OLED display, which will could eventually include a fuel gauge and clock, freeing up gauge locations in the center console. The top Arduino is a GPS speedometer, which will output a VSS signal to drive an aftermarket speedometer, as well as the LCD display hidden where the ash tray used to be.
Does anyone know where to get a "Choke" lens to go in here, short of buying a 1980 tachometer and taking it apart?
