Default Rear bumper Corvette emblem...when did it change

I've seen several 75 models with the later (1976 "modern") corvette script and mine has the longer single letter script. Mine was built in July 1975....
I like the single letter version better... But when and why did they make the change in 1975? I doubt many more 75 models were built after July

Only separate letters with indentations for each letter molded into the cover.

They didn't change during the year. You are seeing altered cars.

My ‘75 has the wrong rear bumper. I would like to find a correct one to install.

The issue is that GM replaced the original style bumper cover with that of the 1976 early (at first), and then with the 1976 Later style (when they changed the covers in mid production).

So..

You had 1975 covers.. with the indented letters.
1975 covers were replaced by the early 1976 style (with the small emblem)
1976 early covers were replaced by the 1976 Later style covers with the larger emblem.

So the issue was that if your car had a damaged cover in say... late 1976, odds are the only thing the dealers could get would be the 1976 and newer cover to fix the car... it was quite common.... but sad.

Did the 76-79 bumper have an indention for the small script ?
I was thinking about filling the holes on a 76 up bumper and laying out the letters in 75 style.
I know the 75 letters were slightly indented but i would like to have a factory urethane rear bumper and finding a good 75 bumper is impossible.
Gm must have changed there urethane formula around 76-77 as the later bunpers hold up much better than the early bumpers.

The 1975 bumpers had indention's for the letters.

The 76 early bumper cover had the indent, the 1976 to 1979 bumpers did not have the indent.

I put a TrueFlex bumper on the '75 I used to have 12-15yrs ago and at the time they did have a '75 correct style with the individual letter indents. I spent about 30hrs doing it correctly & it came out great. Don't know if TrueFlex still makes this bumper or not. Got a "second" that had minor flaws in it for $150 and it looked like an original bumper when I was done.

...what I've seen some people do, and it's better than replacing the whole rear bumper is that as long as it doesn't have the early '76 small script indent and just the three holes for the late '76-'79 emplem is fill those holes, then space out and mount correctly the '75 C-O-R-V-E-T-T-E flush on the cover itself. Yeah, the indent won't be there, but if the individual Corvette letters are done right, it gives the original look anyways. I've seen this done on a dozen or so '75s and it looks pretty good.

The TrueFlex is still out there, but Toledo sold out to ACI.

to the OP.

We have the 75 bumpers at this link (a bit cheaper)
https://willcoxcorvette.com/corvette...xy-glass-75-75

But if your cover is in good shape, you could just fill the holes and then put the emblem single letters right on top of the cover... I don't think this would be an issue just getting them in the right place might be.
