1972 ZR-1 Convertible....Value ??

Really? Untouched? If this guy was savvy enough to special order the fastest production vette at the time, then why did he butcher it, bubba-fy it, neglect it and leave it to rust. Why did he manage to lose the documentation? Now he somehow has an epiphany and goes to the local Chevy dealer to find out if it has any value? Sheesh. He is probably delusional and is confusing LT-1 with ZR-1. When a fish is rotten, it smells from the head to the tail. That is my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Burning Brakes
Hey Jeff. I was hanging out with your brother Ken last night (you and I have never met). He was telling me the story about your find so I had to do some forum recon this am. Funny to find this seven page thread. Great find and a great story. Good luck getting to the bottom of this. Cheers!

since the block was replaced two weeks after going into service the last digit of the date code has to be 1, 2 or a 3.
Small block casting date is located on driver side rear of block on flange forward of bellhousing.
Casting Date Example: E038 - (E = Month, 03 = Day, 2 = Last digit of model year (1972)).
Month: A = Jan, B = Feb, C = Mar, D = Apr, E = May, F = Jun, G = July, H = Aug, I = Sep, J = Oct, K = Nov, L = Dec

Melting Slicks
Is the car going to be for sale?
Regardless of what some people say, this is a beautiful car. This Black 72 convertible C07 with no antenna is a stunning car, and somewhat correct in black. While an NCRS “restoration” means this would have to be displayed and judged in primer, what is on it, “original paint”, is so cool. As for the original engine, most of the cars out there today are restamps. It really is not that big a deal.
When the car goes up for sale as in no documentation, based on what I see, it is collectible enough. It’s a great 72. I would be interested in a fair deal.

How is your 70 ZR-1 coming along you restore it or still enjoying driving it ? The video of your ZR-1 going through the gears is great. Maybe you can post it here.

Hi Jr - happy to see you're still keeping these C3 guys honest - been a while since I've been on the board. Been busy with work and raising a family, so haven't gotten out on the road as much as I'd like - not to mention Seattle winter weather isn't conducive to scooting around town with 4.56 posi. The '70 still tucked in the garage, but getting ready for the full resto. Sold a '66 BB Coupe in March after 17 years of ownership to make room and fund the outsourced work on the '70 (paint, body, drivetrain, etc.). Really looking forward to the process, but also apprehensive about taking it off the road and committing to what will likely be a 2 year process given my current ratio of free-time to work, kids activities and honey-do's. How's your chariot running?
