trying to put together a 79 console area and have one bulb that I don’t know where it goes. One black wire and one gray. Sits right next to manual shifter. Looks like a general illumination bulb. Any suggestions? OK after looking at the wiring diagram it appears as though the bulb illuminates the PRNDL on a automatic transmission car. What do we do with a 4 speed car while installing a new console top including a new shift pattern? I see no spot to click the bulb to the bottom of the console. Much thanks to the gurus

3 yr old post. But the bulb is for the automatic indicator illumination. 💡
just part of the general wiring harness. leave the bulb out.

thanks for the info. Why would the car have a bulb installed and working? Could the 4 speed shift pattern be illuminated?

Schematics show a bulb for A/T only. Someone over the years may have installed one.

Then is it safe to remove bulb and leave socket open?

Remove the bulb and elect. tape the socket. Shouldn’t cause any problems.
