One question I have is, how much of a pain is it to relocated the Parking brake bracket? I am rebuilding the parking brake this weekend anyway.

Fairly simple, use cutoff wheel to remove then reattach to calbe and locate on top of trailing arm and weld on. T

One site you may find of great value (well I did at least) is

https://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

This page will allow you to put in the specs of the original 15" wheel and tyre set then the possible new wheel and tyre options.

It will then show you how much closer it is to guard, suspension etc etc.

I am using 18” Wheels front 18x8 rear 18x9.5 255 45 18. 2” adapters all around no problem with the rear. There is rubbing in the front it rubs to the frame and a little on the sway bar. The offset is 40 and the back spacing is 6.020.

I am changing the tires to 235/45/18
and changing the adapters to 60 mm

pleas check

very helpful

I am still trying to figure out why most guys are running 245's up front and not 255's based on this. Is it because they are running a different backspace tire or wheel width?

The larger tire diameter can rub the fender on the front or rear. Later C3's were designed to run a 255.

Yes exactly, also 245 front 255 rear can create a very slight rake front to rear

It just seemed like some 69's in previous posts were running 255's without rubbing.

So if I go with 245s up front, is rotation possible?

I would not rotate tyres when you have mixed sizes.

Given the limited miles u may put on a classic car rotation is not something I have ever considered.

With staggered tire/wheel size you can rotate side-side if the tires are not uni-directional.

Well here is the plan
I have a torque thrust II that I have had for awhile that is 17 inch
I ordered a 255/45 17 tire
It should arrive at the tire dealer tomorrow morning where they will mount the tire on my wheel.
Then I am going to test fit it to the front of my 69 to see if it rubs
If it doesn't I will get a set of 255's
If it does rub, I will get the 245 / 45 17 for up front
and use the 255's in the rear
They are having a good sale tomorrow and saturday at the tire store.

Sounds like a good plan.

Just keep in mind you need to be happy with clearance at the current and possibly future lower height If your going to lower the Vette to remove the gaps.

For what its worth,

I just got my new wheels on.
Front: 18x8 4.5" backspace with 245/45x18 tires
Back: 18x9.5 with 5.25" backspace with 275/40x18

I used a 1/4" spacer in the back to clear my oversized anti-sway bar. No spacer in front. I DID have to cut off and relocate the parking brake mount.

They are AWESOME!!!!!!

Thanks for this comment - because....

I got the 255/45 17 placed on my wheel today and placed it on the front of my 69. Everything barely cleared...as the car sat without the engine in it.

But it appeared to me that as the body would move down with the engine weight, there was the potential for rubbing, if ever so slight.

So I decided with this set of wheels and tires being as cheap as they were (I got a Memorial Day sale deal) I would play it safe for now.
I ordered the 245/50 15 for up front and will use the 255's in the back

Right now I have absolutely no drivable wheels and tires so this will be the base to get the car running and driving.

Thanks for all the advice

I realize this has been a few years, but what offset are the 19-inch rims, I'm looking to do the same size tires on my 70

Lets not re-start a thread after five years with an unrelated question.
