Boy, I have a factory car with that spoiler here but it's buried in the back of the building. (there is a reason for that too, I won't go into details)... I did some digging on the main server today and found some old pictures of an original spoiler mounted on a car. I've posted it below.

I think I answered your question in your thread about added studs to the ends which will help in drawing down the spoiler in the correct place. You could use a tapping screw on from the inside and just hit the meaty area of the spoiler but adding studs seems to work just fine in our shop. Once you add the studs you eyeball where they are going to hit and drill the hole and usually you can use the stud to mark the paint for the hole.

Here is a picture of a factory spoiler from the rear as in your picture.

77 doesn't change anything only GM used a thin foil under the carpet that would be similar to the heat barriers you guy these days. I've thought about this and for you it might be best just to order the carpet with the jute and then go with a thin heat barrier. I think for you it would be best.

Yes you can....* but if it's international I'd still have to charge you the shipping.

I don't have any issues with the vinyl color but for years there was an issue with the color of the royal blue carpet.* So we found a car with 7k original miles on it and shipped the customer samples to verify the correct color.* I have a link on my tech site that shows the results of this test and also shows clear view of the carpet sample so you'll not have any issues.... this color is dead on for the 1971 cars.

If you want carpet and vinyl samples before you buy, just email me your address @ Service@Willcoxcorvette.com and we'll sort this out for you.

Here is the link... 16-013 is the correct color and it's shown in the pictures on the bottom lower carpet sample in the picture.

What about interior dye? I can't import it to Europe because it can't be shipped via air freight. Can I bring one of the interrior pieces to my local paint shop and ask them to mix a color for me based on that sample?
Or is the color special mix and it is better to find it in leather store or something similar?
I found commplete interior minus dash and door panels and bought it because down the line I want to convert my vette back to its original color (dark blue). Now it's light saddle! Not correct for my plate and not correct for 71!

Flammable items such as dye, aerosol cans, paint, primer can not ship international due to the air restrictions.* *

But how to get the closest to the right shade of blue? Use dupli color vinyl paint? Anyone elses??

If it was here I'd take the sample to your local paint shop, here they have a scanner that will get the color about as close as possible to correct.* Next... if the color is a bit off they'll tint if for us.*

But you'll need to be careful about what you dye....* Pillars, upper dash pads and lower dash pads will dye just fine however, door panels, center forward consoles and seats will generally tend to wear off or come off.* If the interior has any cranks in it and has been cleaned with a cleaner or softener this will usually fish eye when you dye it because the cleaners get into the foam under the vinyl.*

Thanks!

I have a paint shop that can scan a sample and make a can of paint for me.
The only piece I have in original color are door handles.
I would paint the dash pad (complete) and maybe pillar posts. Everything else will be new!

Ernie,

Which type of antifreeze is recommended for the X2215 copper/brass radiator?

Conventional full strength green anti freeze diluted 50-50 with distilled water. In any car if you are buying full strength you want to dilute it with distilled water vs. tap water. Tap water here contains calcium that will cause electrolysis in the tanks and cause the tanks to plug up over years.

You can get away with painting the rear quarter trims and the rear seat backs based on the year of the car.* Rear window trim and rear roof panels can also be dyed, you just want to stay away from high wear area's when you dye things.*

Default Question

"Now you can buy heat barrier but to me one is just as good as the other and to save you some bucks on the so called heat barriers... Go to your local Lowes or Home depot.... it's called AC duct insulation and this stuff comes in a roll that is self adhesive and is less than 1/32" of an inch thick. So put this down, first it won't affect the carpet fitment. I don't waste time on heat barriers except for using this barrier."

Sorry to be dense, but I have diligently searched both the Lowe's and HD websites and cannot find anything like this. I DID find this:

Amazon Amazon

It is 1/8" thick, so was wondering if this was acceptable per your note about carpet-fit (re-installing factory carpet, I think).

Thank you.

Cheers,

Richard

Where does this little vacuum line go? I have a "T" thats very small with two large ends. I think it ties to the yellow striped hose but I'm not sure? Perhaps to one of the wiper hoses? As many photos as I took during disassembly theres a lot where I have bad angles or it was no where near where it should have been. Ugg!

Nix,

I have a 69 coming into the shop in the next few days that is a 45k mile car fully restored... I'll take a look and can take some pictures for you if needed... but that hose appears to be a washer hose but its hard to tell from the picture. Where does it come from? Out of the firewall?

I also have a picture but I don't know who it's from or where I got it...

So, just in case it belonged to the proctologist email me and I'll send it to you... I'd rather email you than publish it here until I can figure out where I got the picture... But what I do know is it's not mine... I believe that it's from the 69 service manual but I just don't remember.

Service@Willcoxcorvette.com is best, I'll be in the service most of today. I may just re-draw the picture so that in the future I can publish it but then I'd have to verify the correctness of it first. (I plan on doing that when the 69 gets here).
