I found the info I was looking for on page L340 in the aim. I was thinking it was for some sort of option so I paged through the option sections of the aim and found it. the p.o. must have removed the 2 a/c relays and jumpered out the compressor clutch start circuit. I am thinking with out the relays full compressor clutch current is now across the console switch and that is not real good.i see the blocking relay is still available but the diesel relay with the timed coil is going to be hard to find.thanks for responding as I am sure I will have more questions for you. bnb

Hi Ernie
I know that a while back you were working on a wiper delay timer mod for 68 to 72 cars (with wiper door covers). Is this still on the back burner or are we looking at a dead issue here?

Are all of the intermittent wiper switches for an '81 made by the same company. If not who offers the best quality? These are are pain to change out. I want to make sure I have a good one this go around.

Yes, there is only one company making the switches and while I'm not positive, it's my belief that they are all imported. I've not had any issues with the reproduction switches but my biggest question to you would be....

Rebuild your old switch is always my answer in our shop.... it's really not that hard it just takes time and patience. If you follow the three guides below it'll walk you through the process of rebuilding, testing it and rebuilding the pot that controls the delay.

I missed answering you I'm sorry, it got buried while I was trying to fix the internet issue I was having.

The t-top weatherstrips are adjustable in the section that is over your head and if they are new (or used) you may need to adjust this.

You may want to loosen the screws and try to adjust it to meat the glass.

When you install T-Top weatherstrips you never glue then under the section over your head until you have adjusted them. Once you adjust them to meet the glass you use painters tape (or masking) and mark the edge of the weatherstrip. Then apply glue to the weatherstrip, glue to the top and allow to dry... Then apply a thin bead of glue to the weatherstrip, line it up with the tape and attach the screws.

I just finished adjusting the fiberglass tops this morning. It took playing with a bunch of shims in different positions to get it right.

I watched your video at least three times. That helped me quite a bit. The Melrose Top adjustment video helped also.

I can see that I'm going to have to adjust the up stops on the door glass on the driver side due to a slight gap.

I used 3m strip caulk under the outside portion of the weather strips. I figured I would always be able to adjust it if needed. Is this going to be a problem?

That I'm not sure of... We always adjust them, mark them and then glue them but I have to say, that might work just fine. If it causes a problem you can always go back and re-boot.

I'm sorry I missed your postl.... It's not on the back burner, it's just not on the front burner. In the last year we've came out with about 100 new parts and they were way easier on us than the development of this module. The issue is the timer. While aftermarket kits are available, the original GM delay modules used a sweep timer to tell the system the position of the wiper arms to keep them in time. I don't want to make a generic kit, that's too easy. On the 1978-1982 cars the wiper cover had a resistor on it that the bell crank inside the motor hit on every sweep. This told the control module the exact position of the arms.... this has proven difficult and something I should revisit soon.

I posted a picture below of how the 1978-1982 kept track of the wiper arm position. I'll talk with Bobby on Monday and see if he's made any progress on this. What is nice is that we now have access to a 3d printer which might make printing these covers with the time resistor added... I'm just not sure. It's still on the board, I'm just not sure where we are on this to be honest.

The felts are not included in the weatherstripping kits, I'm sorry. Door felts can be found at this link https://willcoxcorvette.com/catalogs...18&q=door+felt

However, if you are wanting just the felts, they are listed as well as the inner assemblies with the rubber wipe.

68 felts are tricky for sure.... because the inner wipes had a rubber wipe that trimmed out the door panel and was smashed between the wipe and the wipe retainer.
