Burning Brakes
Enjoyed reading through this thread! Lot's of knowledge, history, and beautiful LT-1's! Here's my project '71 LT-1. It's far from perfect and original, and will never be an NCRS car, but it has the original engine and is a blast to drive!

Went to a car show in Moore Township PA yesterday sponsored by the Lions Club. Was told there was almost 500 cars, trucks and even a couple tractors. Very few C3s and I brought the only LT1. There was a survivor 1960 VW bug in excellent condition next to my car that got more attention than most any other car. Really nice day with zero chance of rain. First time I drove the car since April. The MO vanity plate is from the owner before me.

New C3 Corvette Owner
Hi Folks,
I am a new corvette owner and found a nice restomod from the East Coast. It was previously for sale at Vanguard Motors here https://www.vanguardmotorsales.com/v...vette-restomod. I would like to learn more about it regarding ( who rebuild it, number of owners, original details, etc). I know I can get a Marti Report, but I thought I would try here first. I've had it for 1 week and the timing was perfect to go to the local Wings and Wheels car show.
The VIN number is in the Van Guard link if anyone might be able to help me.
Thanks,
Mike
PS Sorry if my Forum etiquette is not proper. I'm not that savvy quite yet, but I can learn.

Timing
I am setting timing on my ‘70 this weekend since I just put new plugs in it. What do you guys set your initial and advance to? Service manual for initial says 14 degrees at 750rpm. I thought it was better at 8 degrees at 850rpm.

Everything is in them to set up your engine with the correct timing and carb settings.
Search for his email address and he will be more than happy to send you a set.
Don’t get them from anyone else and don’t set it pursuant to the manual.

Thanks for the tip. Lars quickly sent them. I do have a question. He recommends setting the dwell first and when I raise the aluminum door to access the dwell adjustment screw there is not one. Any ideas?

The car is definitely an original LT-1. On a related subject the rotor is pointing to plug #6 and I believe it should be at #1. I have the #1 cylinder at TDC. I need to correct something, don’t I? I’m setting the timing.

Yes and no.
Quick answer is the distributor is set up 180 degrees out.
It will run just fine as it is, you just need to know how to set it up to run correctly.
Others with more knowledge will chime in, but if it were mine I would set it up properly.
