Default Service for Seat Restoration for C3

Looking to see if there is a company or service out there that will restore my seats with headrest in my 1969 convertible. I have checked with the local shops and there pricing is crazy . I'm willing to do the wrenching but when it come time to recover the seats it may be a little more than I feel comfortable doing. Has anyone sent there seats out to have them Restored ? Thanks.

Anyone you commission to do that job will charge you dearly. It is a labor-intensive job, and "labor" means $$$$. The covers are just a portion of that total cost.

If you decide to' farm it out', you might want to take your car to a nearby Corvette show/meet where Al Knoch will be working on tops and interiors. His work is top-notch and you can watch as he is doing it (at the show). I believe you can check out his web site. If you want to have it done at a show he's attending, you need to set it up by contacting via the website or calling his place of business....WELL ahead of that show.

I had the Al Knoch folks restore the seats from my 69 at a Corvette Expo 10 years ago. It wasn’t cheap but they came out great.

I was reluctant but it actually isn't that hard. I haven't looked but there have to be videos that show how.

just had mine done at Corvette America.i was pleased with the finished product. 2 week turn around, fair labor price( $350), and good quality materials and they offered free return shipping. nice people to deal with.

I've recovered numerous seats, not really difficult. Worst part is when th covers suck and nd don't fit correctly.
Be prepared to get new foam, figure that into any estimate you get(is foam included).

Not sure what you consider expensive, but Al Knock offers the seat cover kits as follows:

Vinyl seat covers 450.00
Leather seat covers 750.00
New foam 220.00

You can probably get the kit installed for about 200 if you have a decent shop around. You can try and install them yourself, but you may wish to search for some of the threads about installation. It can be kind of hard to get right. You might find that the seats sit a little higher when you first install them. I had to adjust the seats down and also let them break in before they were really right.

As I recall when I did my 78, a good "trick" was to put a plastic bag over the top of the seat foam so the cover would slide down easier. Don't remember if I left it in there or tried to pull it out.
