Default T-Tops “creaking” badly after new weatherstrip

I just replaced the weatherstrip on my t-tops, (‘76 model). Now, when I drive, the t-tops “creak” really badly.

The tops appear to be fitting perfectly. They snap right in easily. The lines look good....they just creak.

it was quite as a mouse prior to the weatherstripping replacement.

Any my idea what’s wrong? More importantly, any idea how to correct?

That can be normal and will probably go away on its own once the new seals have relaxed and formed to the car and windows. Be aware this may take months, but you'll notice the car will be a little quieter and everything will fit a bit better.

Put a wipe of Nu-Vinyl or other polymer protectant on the new seals. In fact, that is good for them whether they make noises or not. Do NOT put any petroleum-based coating on them, as that will eventually cause their demise.

try the t top adjustment bolts if you extend them out it will give you a tighter fit

It could be that the fit isn't quite right; but as you mentioned that they were 'tight', I suspect the problem is just the "fresh" rubber on metal. The polymer protectant (dries completely in just a minute or two). Will protect the rubber and slide on the surface, rather than skip over it as it shifts. Should be quiet. I use Nu-Vinyl on all my seals and weatherstrips to keep them from getting hard and eliminate such noises.

Rubbing some baby powder on the rubber seals can sometimes do the trick. FWIW it works well in the gaps between squeaky wooden floor boards to quieten them.
