The most unbelievable part of that movie was that somebody actually stole that car...

I never saw the movie. That car was the C7 tailights of the seventies.

The best movie Vettes are in Rush Hour, Mystery Men, and Cannonball (1976). I can't imagine that the Corvette Summer car was anything but an over-the-top joke even when it came out, but what do I know...

Before anyone is too eaten up with jealousy
You can still build one of your own,

corvette summer car kit

To be honest i didnt find CS any worse or "stinkier" than any other car film of the day including, gumball rally, cannonball/s, smokey and the bandit/s, king of mountain, dorks ahem , dukes of hazard, the wraith or any of the newer yet off the chart cheesy, fast and furious franchise,
These and other films like them are campy silly thats the fun,
Get all serious and yes, the fun is lost.

Korky was told at a time when custom c3s were the norm to build a way out radical attention getter which he did,
And 40 years later it still has your attention.

Nothing about it flows, its gaudy tacky, in that way i dont like it,
i like what it represents to me and the coming of age of a highschool lowender who gets the girl, i related, the movie was a direct influence on my having a life long love of vettes and enrolling in auto body class,

About 12 years back after that fellow invested a lot of time and money in producing a corvette summer body kit, then learning no one would pay what he was asking one of his front clips popped up for sale like 1200.00 , no scoop, thats fine, i wanted to stick an L88 on it, paint it black,
The seller did a Houdini on me and vanished,
I would still run that clip, just my way....

Probably the most polarizing "custom" Corvette of all time.
No I don't like it!

no we didnt.....sorry.
Cannonball run and Smokey and the Bandit were funny and actually had better acting.Mark Hamill wasnt quite an actor yet, he was still a whiny kid. We breifly talked about corvettes in movies in another thread and the newest one with a brief but sad moment is GAME NIGHT. Quite enjoyable, easy to watch, no thinking required and has a few good LOL scenes. The Vette is a 75 I believe

Ill take the King of the mountain car any day of the week. But as far as corvette summer car I think you put to much though in to it. It's a move
you do over the top stuff. Do you think the bandit car can jump the bridge hit the mail box's and have no damage. The corvette summer car
is over the top and I'm a custom guy but in a way it is cool.

And while i still dont think any of the "car" movies had great acting,
Or anything tangable or realistic they werent meant to, they were meant to be stupid, cheesy fun,
Of course if a viewer related more to burt than mark they will like his film better but that only means that to the viewer, its not across the board.
I enjoyed CS start to finish, and i am a vette fan.

I love the c2 in king of the mountain, so much so my 69 is going in c3 version of that direction,
man, is patina hard to fake
But the film is really painful to watch except the race scenes,

Try to find a copy of 2 lane blacktop or better yet faster pussycat, kill, kill.
Give them a gander...
