Default Pre heat stove shield questions

I’m sure this question has been asked before but here goes.

Just wondering what the purpose is for the heat stove shield. I see that the flex pipe connects to the air intake system. Does it just vent heat from the manifold to the intake?

When owners go with an open air intake system, what do they do to the flex pipe and heat stove?

Yes. It's only there to help warm up the carb & intake air at start-up in cold weather. If you go "open air", just remove/block-off that stuff.

Thanks for the reply. How would I block it off?
