1970 corvette 350 4 speed
My corvette was not running really well back in 1989. I took the heads off , probably did not need to. I have 81000 on the car. I want to put it back together. The car has been in the garage all this time. Do I need to rebuild the engine or can I just doa good head rebuild and put it back together. Really do not want to rebuild engine if I do not have to

If you are in a drier humidity state and it was in a garage all these years then just rebuild the top end as you would using all new headgaskets, etc. Drain the fuel tank and rebuild the carb. Pull the plugs and add alittle bit of marvels mystery oil to each cylinder to free up and stuck rings. Change the oil and pre lube it with a oil priming tool made for small block chevys and the fire it up. Theres a lesser chance of the internals being seized with rust.
If your in a high humidity sstate, You could pull the water pump off and pull the cam since your already at that point, inspect and relube it. then rebuild from there.
Theres plenty of videos on line of people just adding gas and oil and getting old cars running again but they dont say how long or well they run.

1970 corvette restart
Do I need to replace any trans or engine seals or radiator or water pump on this 350 that has had the heads off for 25plus years. Car has been in the garage in colorado(very dry here). Is there any lubricants or additives that I can add to bring the seals back to life.

If it were me: I'd pull the engine and trans out and at a minimum replace all the gaskets and consumables (water pump, etc.....these are cheap, dont risk it). This also gives you a great opportunity to paint the engine and clean up the engine bay, assuming it needs it sfter sitting all these decades. Again, just what I would do.....I enjoy doing this sort of stuff though, others may not. :-)

Rebuild the engine. You will be time & money a head. You will never have to do anything to it as long as you have it. as others have said while it is out clean & refresh the engine bay.

1970 corvette 350 sitting in the garage for 25plus years
I just want to get it running well again. I want to sell it not keep it. My local mechanics and engine rebuild shops want a fortune to do the work and I do not have that kind of money . I am retired

If you are running with the original, virgin distributor it may be a little worn out and have a lot of play. I think it’s like $180 for Lars to rebuild and install better advance springs. Well worth it! You get back a better than new distributor.

you took the motor apart in 1989 because of a problem with the motor.the problem is still there ..sell the car as is or put a crate motor in it.
