Bought 1969 Convertible
So I bought a 1969 convertible, the car was an older frame-off restoration that the current owner didn't have time for anymore. Thanks for all the advice I got while reviewing these threads, as you can see the
frame is solid (as is the kick-up areas) and I drove it about 50miles home. Ran great, feels good, love the car and plan on restoring it as I get funds available. The car needs the interior refreshed and needs a bit
of TLC to really bring it back. It does not have the original L46, but does have a Corvette L46 from 1969. So now I need to start restoration, I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a book that might help
an amateur mechanic such as myself. The first thing I have to tackle is replacing the distributor installed with the correct (new, in box) tach drive distributor the older owner had purchased but never put in. So, to all
the mechanics out there - what is the best resource book for the amateur mechanic out there that wants to improve his C3 corvette?

Good luck with the car, you need the 1969 AIM, factory Chassis Service manual and the Chassis Overhaul manual and unless it's not obvious in the picture you have a fiberglass rear spring and I dont see a heat shield mounted to the spring bracket.

Thanks for the heat shield info. I have previously restored old Mustangs and bought my first Corvette so those things that might appear obvious to you is not to me.

Nice looking car
just to let you know if you look close at the picture of the rear spring it seems the bolts are plenty long so they use all the thread in the rear holes of the cast diff plate ,but looking at the front ones they seem to be bottomed out (its a blind hole ) might be too longer bolts used in the front . I don't think you should be able to see any of the bolt between the mount plate and the spring

Nice ride! White with a red interior always looks sharp. Too bad that got lost along the way. All you can get now is black, grey and tan.....BORING.

Bazza77, are you referring to this bolt?

So for more information, where do you all think is the best resource for good price/quality Corvette parts? Any favorite places?
I have many items that need attention, especially in the interior.

OP, you might consider getting some guidance from someone experienced in installing a distributor. It's not hard but can be a bit trying at your first attempt.

Hi. Can you get a pic of the rear spring from in front facing back? Those front bolts likely need immediate attention.

I started on a 68 convert three years ago and have approx. $25K spent on parts. Used Ecklers, Corvette Central, Zip, Paragon for specialty parts. Prices are comparable, shipping cost and speed varies, but all are good. Good luck on your new Vette. It looks nice, but you will make it even nicer. Send pictures to the forum to keep us posted.

That looks like a problem but easy fix. Bolt is bottomed out in diff and does not provide any clamping force on the front side of the apring. Take bolts out, one at a time. Add 2 flat washers and reinstall. Might also at that point want to loosen the back 2 and torque them evenly.
