Default Miata seats in a late C3 (1980) Have a few questions

As I'm having some difficulty finding Fiero seats locally for my 1980 Corvette, without paying huge shipping fees, I am considering going with Miata seats instead. I have a few questions for anyone who have installed these. I know the Fiero seats sit slightly higher (1" I think) how do the Miata seats compare in this regard? Also the mounting brackets to retrofit the Fiero seats seem fairly simple to build, where would I find info on brackets for mounting the Miata seats? I would appreciate any information or experiences any of you may have in this area and pictures if you have them. Thanks GIL

As a former Miata owner I'd say the Fiero seats are better.... I'd never found the Miata seats to be very supportive.

Depends on the year Miata. 90-94 seats are the best for lateral support. The later years came with a flatter bottom to allow for taller drivers. There are a million aftermarket seat brackets for the Miata seats due to the popularity of SCCA spec Miata racing. Google to see options. If DIY'er they are very similar to C3 seat brackets, just a couple of 12mm bolts to hold them on.

Owner of both C3 and Miata,
R

Default Miata Seats in 69 Vette

I'm in the process of installing late model Miata seats (out of a 2014) in my 69 restomod. I like them because they are leather and the color is brownish saddle like the new C7 interiors. Also, I'm installing 3 point seat belts and these seats have a bracket on the side of the headrest to support the seat belts. I've always installed late model seats in my restomod projects and find matching leather to match the other interior parts. Also, I build my own seat brackets and don't seat any issues modifying the factor rails to fit the stock 4 holes in the floorboards! Here's some pictures of these seats:

Fitting the seat in the 69

Recovered in leather with adapters to mount them to the 69 seat rails.

Everybody always make sure the seats fit and you can stand how they feel and look before you go to the expense and trouble of reupholstering any non-OE seat.
