Thanks Bats & everyone else. Was going to cruise her this evening, but looked like rain. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Even though 1968 will always be my favorite year, I've always loved the '74 - '77 cars!
And you're not on our 73/74 TIMJG revision team because?
I cannot believe the number of production changes between 73-74 that were never incorporated in the original TIMJG.
What's the range of your temp gauge...100-250 or 100-280?

mine goes to 280*. i wonder if the current JG addresses the early '74 two piece door weatherstrips & lack of a rain gutter at the rear of the sill plates?
...saw a neat White pretty original '74 conv that was like #00202. Had to have been a 2nd day production car. Wished I could've spent more time with it. Did notice that it had both '73 style wiper arms, whereas mine has one '73 style & one '74 style. Also have seen 3 different styles of the push button on the manual override on the starter interlock under the hood on the firewall.

...usually there were several changes in any given year of C3 production. I like to say early production, mid production & late production. Depending upon where your VIN# falls out of total production, you could even say "early to mid" or also "mid to late". I would say yours is right near or at "mid production".

And we have caught these exceptions in the revision but it occurred to me that pink 73/74 manual stated that 1974 M40s were not equipped with AIR pumps. We proved that LS4 M40s were equipped with AIR using both the presence of the emission label and then putting eyeballs on the engine compartment and confirming the presence of AIR.
However, that left L48 M40s without confirmation of the presence of AIR. But buildsheets, including yours shows that indeed, the emission label called out was the ZB and it stated that AIR was equipped on 1974 L48 M40s. I have a few 1974 L48 M40 buildsheets and they all show the ZB label.

So, I'm guessing your car has AIR?
Tom, a 1974 "Federal Emission" L-48 automatic DID NOT have A.I.R. Every original one I've seen is like mine, no A.I.R. Can't verify an L-48 automatic for California, have never seen one. The manual L-48 cars had A.I.R. originally.
