Default Cross Flag Visitor...

Until a couple weeks ago I've never seen any praying mantis around here?

we've got them all around our yard, they're good bug eaters.Ya gotta feel bad for the male though, after mating the female bites his head off.I guess that's one way for her to make sure he doesn't cheat on her.

We get them all the time and I mean the big ones. The other night something started flying around the room while watching the tube and then flew behind the curtains. I thought it was a bat, it was that big. I was a little scared of getting bit by a bat so I searched real slow but couldn't find anything. Still paranoid I moved the TV a little and there she was, a mantis about 6 inches long. Picked her up and put her outside. I've got a bunch of pictures of them over the years.
Here is a small one:

We had this guy on our back pouch for a month. He'd come out every night to make his web and eat bugs.

I wish one would land on my emblem. That does make a cool picture.

You can order them at some nurseries.
They come about 75 to a bag, just like you see lady bugs for sale.
Release them or lady bugs late evenings on the foliage of your trees and your trees, shrubs and plants will be bug free in a couple of days.
As long as they have food they will stay, and will start to move-on when their food supply depletes.
They are really cool and great to have around.
