Hi to all Corvette Forum Members
Hi there ... I came across this site as I was looking for information on Chevrolet Big Block Engines. I was impressed with the level of knowledge most of the senior members (..like IGO200) in this forum have shown while I read their threads..
I am looking for more information on this engine I have owned for some time. I know its a Chevrolet Big Block from the early 70s with CID 509 4 Bolt Aluminium CAN-AM ,119cc combustion chambers, Winters Foundry casting etc... I also tried to contect Ed Pink racing engines even though he sold his company now.. I am attaching some pics so if any of the experienced guys here can give me more information on the engine I would be grateful . I wish to know the meaning of the other Castings too if possible.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on having a very powerful big block Chevy race engine. Thnk it it's prime it was 700-800hp (and possibly more).
399204 identifies the Chevy 4.5” bore block built without the iron sleeves used in many of the aluminum big blocks. IIRC these were specifically developed for Can Am racing, although rumor has it that Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins had this engine in his ’68 match race Camaro and perhaps his ’70 Pro Stock car.
I believe the RR on your heads refers to Brodix “Race Right” heads. This would tie in with the 119cc combustion chambers you mention.
You should consider posting this question and pics in the C3 Tech/Performance section of the forum at https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...s-1968-1982-5/. Lots of great members there who can tell you far more about this set up than I remember.
Best wishes, Larry
