69 rear bumper help plz!
Hi,
So I recently purchased a 69 and the seller shaved the rear bumper. He did just a "great" job I can't see where the original holes were. Can anyone post photos / measurements or alignment marks? I would prefer to avoid trial and error here.
Any C3 member in NYC or Woodbury area that would let me look at their 69 would be greatly appreciated!!!!

You might want to post a few pictures so we can see what you are seeing. Hard to make suggestions blind.

I would try an extremely bright light behind the rear tail panel and see if the holes show up.
Back in the day when working on a fiberglass car, I put cut magic markers in the screw holes on the bumpers (crayons work also) - the rear holes only and aligned the bumpers. Then did the same with the side holes. You will need help and a 2x4 to hold both bumpers level.
My 72 bumpers are 3/4 inch below the tail light opening, the 71 is 1" below the tail light opening.

Made a simple mold, which was applied to the damaged area from behind. I then filled that inner cavity with VPA in order to make it more solid and stronger to prevent damage in the future. VPA was also supplied to the outside side. Bumpers were then mounted with tape over the repair. Leveled bumpers and made cross lines where the bumper cage nut was. Worked like a charm. Just another way..................................... ........................................ ...........

Thanks RVZIO, that second photo is helpful. Ultimately I know I will have to just put them against the car, level, mark and drill. However just looking for reference points.

I have a 69 side exhaust car.
just a suggestion.....see if the bumper brackets are still there....behind the frenched-in panel....then get a right angle drill with a 1/8ths bit ...poke a hole from the inside to the outside and then you can open up the hole and adjust from there.
MEASURE TWICE, DRILL TWICE!
good luck UnkaHal
