Default 1976 “Trunk” enclosure?

Hi everyone,
I have a 76 stingray and would like to make a custom enclosure for my trunk/cubby (what ever it’s actually called). I want a place to put my speakers and amp with the added bonus of quieting my exhaust drone. I also want it hinged so I can still put my T-tops in it.
My question to all of you is...is there anyone here that has done this or something similar that I can get some kind of visiual reference of. Or can you point me in a direction to look.
I have been relentlessly searching the web and have found nothing.
Thank you for any help.
Brian S.

That's a lot of work/modifying fiberglass. The gas tank is directly behind the rear wall.....would you be able to make a trunk opening large enough to lower the T-tops into? If so you would have to carefully cut out and save the fiberglass cut-out to fabricate a custom trunk lid..

So this is what I’m looking at doing.
It will basically be a cabinet on its side. It’ll have a framework of some design and the center section will fold forward on a bottom hinge. The amp will be on the inside between the speakers(6x9’s not round).
It will have slits for the seatbelts and be covered in black trunk carpet from an old car I had a while back.
With my basic carpentry skills, I think I can pull this off.

Ed,
First let me say NICE! And that I too was originally intending to put my head unit in it as well but have since put in the original location.
