Found this on another vett site, not sure how correct it is tho.

Stock stall was about 1600 - 1800 rpm. Stall speed is variable though based on torque input.
If you want to know your actual stall speed just go put your car in gear, step on the brakes (hard), and push the throttle to the floor. As long as the brakes hold and the tires dont turn, whatever the tach reads (assuming an accurate tach) is your stall speed. Your flash stall speed will be a little higher.
As best as I can remember, lock up converters were not used in 79.
