Who do you use for Collector Car Insurance?
And what are the conditions and how do you like it? We are looking to move our insurance (everything) and I'd like to get the best collector car insurance for my Vette. I don't want a mileage limit as I drive my car a lot.
Thanks
Thanks

Hagerty for the C3. No mileage limit. Must be in an enclosure with at least three sides.
LeLand West for the C6. No mileage limit. Must be in a locked garage. Driven to and from events restriction.

Hagerty.
From direct experience
In event of a Damage claim, twice they deployed contracted adjusters from a pool. Both times were probably adequately qualified to appraise a steel-skinned daily driver grocery getter but were NOT experienced with antique/collector/special interest vehicles... that was painfully obvious (don't recognize about $difference$ between OE press bonded versus much cheaper hand-laid-chopper fiberglass panel). Good luck hiring a credentialed independant appraiser/adjuster who'll represent you as those same folk depend on the insurance companies for their daily bread & butter.
An alternative which might be offered is to have vehicle torn-down & inspected by a shop of your choosing and that shop submits an appraisal to insurer. But do consider: once your pride & joy's innards are scattered on someone else's shop floor and practically immobilized, you are now in a vulnerable position aka "stuck" or nearly "married."
Bear in mind, most collector car insurance is "agreed value" and as such there may be a Very high bar before any damages rise to an amount anywhere near the agreed value.
In general, the higher the agreed value the higher the bar to reach "total loss." That may be a blessing or can be a curse. YMMV.

I have had Hagerty for going on three years on my 68 convert. Agreed value replacement cost, no mileage restrictions. I have had three claims- cracked windshield and two towing claims- and they paid quickly without any argument.

Hagerty has a good contract agreed value contract. If you carry a personal liability umbrella policy most of the major insurance carriers will write over a Hagerty policy. One of my clients backed his aluminum body Austin Healy into his garage door and they were very helpful in finding parts and a qualified shop to do the repair. They also have an option to keep your car if it is totaled. Pricing is going to depend on the vehicle. Newer cars that may be driven more are going to cost more than a 50 year old classic that is trailered to car shows. My premium is $ 585.00 a year for $ 22,500.00 on my C5 Z06. zero deductible on physical damage and $500,000 on liability and Uninsured Motorist Liability.

Thanks for all the replies. We just dropped Farmers and changed all our auto and homeowners to USAA. Didn't save much on homeowners but saved a bunch on our 3 cars so right now I'm happy.
Adam - I'll give you a call in a few months and see what you can offer. I don't want to upset the wife as she spent almost 4 hours on the phone with USAA the other day. You know the saying - Happy wife, happy life! lol

I use American Modern on my 71 & 62, just had a fire on the 62 a couple months ago and American Modern was great to work with.

I've had my insurance with USAA for 50 years I've been really pleased with them. except they recommended American Collectors for collector car insurance, I had my 66 Corvair insurance with them and I guess it was alright, I never had a claim. When I bought my 73 Corvette I was having it shipped and I wanted to start the insurance on the day I purchased it because of the shipping. American Collectors refused to do that so I ended up putting the Corvette on the standard USAA policy. I subsequently moved the Corvair insurance from Amercian Collectors to the standard USAA policy. I don't have agreed upon coverage with the standard policy, but I mostly worry about the liability coverage and I'll take my chances if either of these cars gets totaled. In any case, I was not very happy with the customer service at American Collectors.
