Bloomington Gold adding Camaro's
I guess I was shocked to get the email that this year's Bloomington Gold event in Indy will be inviting Camaro's. No judging it says yet, but they can take laps etc. They are also inviting Camaro part vendors as well. I really liked it was a Corvette only event, but I guess they needed a bigger crowd to make more money. I will still go but it just takes away from the event for me,

The BG show has been going down hill every since Dave left & they had to move out of the fair grounds at Bloomington. TOO BAD. Many fond memories of the old BG show.

I liked it as a corvette event only, Has been going downhill every year . I thought moving from Chicago area to the speedway would pick it up but that does not appear to be the case. After this last announcement I will no longer be going.

This quote is the one I don't understand in the email. Kinda of slap in the face to Camaro owners. Basically when you grow up, then you can get into Corvettes. A Camaro is a stepping stone to a Corvette. I better tell my Camaro buddies this. Lol. I am not sure they would agree.
"Not only do a lot of our customers have Camaros in their garage, [the Camaro] is a nice stepping stone before entering the Corvette hobby. Why not share the fun that so many Corvette owners are having at Bloomington Gold with owners of another Chevrolet vehicle with the same need for speed?” says Guy Larsen, Bloomington Gold Owner and President.

Two different cars with very different uses, but the Camaro is frankly more utilitarian.
Gee, I wonder why Corvette guys get stereotyped??
For the record, I wouldn’t attend either way because I’d rather be out driving my cars than sitting around gettting judged...

Similar thread going in the C1/2 section. I think the addition of Camaros is in the long run going to be the end of this event. A very good friend of mine who is into Gen 1 Camaros also thought the "stepping stone" comment was condesending. He loves Camaros and has no real interest in Corvettes. In BG's effort to up their numbers I believe this short sighted move will in the end be the undoing of a once great event.
