Default 70 Convertible rear Bow to Frame Screws

Can someone with a known original top frame and top check the 4 screws that attach the rear bow to the folding frame on a 70 Corvette? I am interested in the configuration of the screws and interested to know if the hardware includes a concave lock washer.

The rear bow is removed when replacing the top so it is very possible my hardware is not correct based on the replacement top on it when purchased.

Pictures would be great.

Happy New Year!

Kind Regards,

Bill

The original screws were 1/4 x 20 thread flat Phillips head screws. To my knowledge I don't believe they had a locking washer or SEMS washer made on to them. I've got my original car at the shop that I can look at on Monday.. .but you best be served if you just emailed me at Service@Willcoxcorvette.com. for a reminder. I suffer from some timers disease.

Hi Bill.
Heres a shot from my 70. Had original rag top in 73 when I bought it, so the screws should be originals. Doesnt show so well in the pic, but looks like a serrated washer behind the flat Phillip's head.

Thank you Dennis.

My recollection was correct. I paid a LOT of money to have my frame reconditioned. Entire frame was in excellent shape other than the bushings being toast from use. I did not get my original hardware back which was very disappointing. The hardware the restorer provided is not correct. Found the exact screws at the hardware store. Now if I can find 4 lock washer washers.

Thank you again!

Kind Regards,

Bill

Here is a picture I snapped today of my original car. It doesn't have the original top on it but the screws are the originals.

Thank you!! I found my originals and they match. Apparently I did keep my original hardware having learned form previous experiences.

Don't laugh when I tell you where I found them. I have a container of Evapo-Rust I use for derusting small parts. They were in the container. Came out looking like new.

Kind Regards,

Bill

I'm curious what they look like with the washer. Have a pic?

Dennis,

I can take one out but my speculation is that the external washer is a KEPs style washer made on the screw. Let me know if you want me to take one out to see.
