I have researched this part number but can not seem to find what this fits. I thought this would be a easy find but no luck. Help!

That is a crankcase breather/fill tube cap for early small blocks.

Yup. 265-283-327 maybe 348 & 409 and so on. Put it on Ebay, somebody might be willing to buy it.

It was an early version of removing crankcase vapor. That part has dual purpose. It kept the dirt out of the oil fill tube and is also an filtered inlet for fresh air. A draft tube off of the back of the block evacuated oil vapors from the crankcase then on down to the road, (road draft tube). That cap you have would also show if there was some blowby in the engine. After the engine was shut off, that cap would smoke a bit sometimes. Those old evac systems left a black streak down the middle of millions of miles of roadways. Those were the good ol days.
