Works good on boats with no windshield. Or maybe a D-type Jag.

Looks like the L88 cowl induction hood. or a knockoff of that.

You get that as an entire hood, not as an "accessory" to add to your existing hood.

The 1972 Le Mans #4 race car has a similar deflector:

Looks like 2 brackets and a piece of clear acrilyc photoshopped onto top of scoop. I was talking about that.

Look closer, I made the same mistake.

Hes not asking about the L88 type hood, it’s the weird little clear “wind diverter” or whatever it is mounted in the middle of it. It’s hard to see at first.

It is a screen capture from a video game. The whole picture is CGI and not real.

To answer the OPs original question, yes, it is a deflector and functions to keep bugs off the windshield during long distance endurance races. Before the days of tear-off windshield protectors.

I'm guessing it's to help to deflect road grime and debris up and over the windshield when racing in the wet. Never seen one installed except for the attached photos above.

Yes the picture is from a friends video game..

I was wondering if the deflector was a real thing... or just made up in the game..

Also, if you have any type if cowl induction hood .This will wipe out the high pressure area at the base of the windshield.

Good point derekderek, kind of defeats the purpose of the L88 hood.

I posted that reply from a small tablet. I missed it on the small screen.

Yeah, I see it on the computer screen. It's a rain/grime deflector. It was installed on endurance cars in wet conditions, and sometimes at night (to deflect bugs). Someone mentioned, it does partially do away with the "high pressure zone" at the base of the windshield that cowl induction takes advantage of. If you're racing in the rain, a small reduction in power from that probably isn't a bad thing.
