with what Roger wrote above.
He and I have this discussion many times and like when we talk I tell him that he is in a different situation than I am in due to I charge for this directly to the owner of the car. I look at the final end result and what the customer wants and what is the best for the car also along with cost effectiveness, QUALITY of the repair is NEVER being sacrificed. He is also basically doing the same thing and is willing to tackle many repairs that most people would throw away that factory part and install a new one due to their own reasons. His mindset works for him and as long as ..at the end of the day he still has the mojo to keep doing it...he is doing what works for him and that is all that matters.
Sometimes repairing a single panel is BETTER than slapping on an aftermarket hand laid front clip that has its own issues to contend with...and when it is all done,...if .a person who knows what they are looking at they can tell instantly if it is a hand laid front clip or an original front clip.
Not only that,....when a person like Roger tackles all of these different types of repairs which require different techniques to repair them he further gains experience so the next car he does.....he can look at it and KNOW what it will take due to he has done it before. Each car can bring a whole new list of challenges. If Roger was the type to ONLY remove panels and put new ones on and did no other type of work.. .He is now limited on his ability...thus depriving him of the experience to gain KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIERNCE.
So...like I have told him ...I APPLAUD his willingness to tackle these repairs The education and experience he is gaining cannot be taught in a school because you would be there for years and years....so...therefore it is PRICELESS. Because ANY fiberglass part on this car CAN be repaired IF a person wants to do it and take whatever measures they need to take.to repair it correctly...even if they choose to disassemble the entire body all the way down to the bird cage and start from scratch and bond it all back together again.

YEP..a used front clip at 4K is not much less than being able to buy all of the entire front clip (less hood) which is about $4200 +/-.. Granted to have to build it all together.
Jig assembled front ends are about $4900.
It is all a balancing act on time versus money.

The problem with OEM front clips. If they are in nice shape they are on nice cars and do not get parted out.

Started to take small steps towards fixing things. Got a first coat of VPA on the damaged areas over the wheel wells. Added the non existent bonding strip on the one inner fender. Made a small mold for the lip areas to help with the correct wheel well lips.
RVZIO
Much easier working on the wheel well areas without the hood surround on. It really is an awkward process to do with the car intact. Anyway creeping along!

So I 've been working on a new paver walkway so not much time on the project. Today my wife said "since it's your birthday why don't you go play in the shop" So I ran. Started the mock up process to see what the best approach will be and see how things fit. Got the inner fender attached to the core support and put the hood surround and lower valance. All not to bad. Well what do ya know, it's coming together.

Nothing is better than the wife saying it is 'cool' by her to go play in the garage.

[QUOTE=yvesvidal;1598842048]Very nice pavement. You do a good job Roger. However, between this and the Vette, you must be in a terrific shape or completely exhausted.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
Probably a little of both. I get tired pretty quick but try to stay in the best shape I can expect. Silver Sneakers Program at the gym.

Thank you Sugs for asking about my wife. She is a real trooper. Her healing is completed and she is back to work. As for the 71 project I'm working on mocking things up because I don't want an ah/ha moment once the car is primed and painted. Need it all fitting right so now's the time.
