So continuing with the front end mock up I could not get the head lights to line up properly. Luckily when I picked up the hood surround I also bought the head light assemblies that were on that surround hence the orange color. They dropped in perfect. With a little adjusting and rebuilding they will fit fine. On to the front bumper and grill. Once that's fitting the way it should it will be time to set the surround for good. A great day!

The saga continues today with the fitting of the bumper, bumper

ettes and grills. More fine tuning tomorrow but it's starting to look a little like a 71 now.

Had just the right piece laying around to make a splash mold of the outer front corner of the grill. I wanted to capture the correct profile of the lip for the grill. Still working on it but it is starting to come to life. Before I started I had to remove all the crap shown in the first picture.

Had to peel away from the project to keep property management (wife) from closing the doors. Honey do list completing paver walkway and renting a skid steer to bringing a couple of loads of fill to level things out. It's in my best interests to finish this project before it really gets hot, although the 80's feel pretty good for winter. I did manage to align things, put the car on the ground, then bonded the lower panel to the car. Now I can move forward knowing things will line up. Pictures coming.

It would look good with your spare 69 nose on it... Really glad to hear she is ok. I take it insurance and some OTHER body shop is gonna fix it? If you are considering it, what year and model?

Car was a 2012 with 28k miles. To fix was over the total worth of the car Insurance company totaled the car. Sucks!

just cuz they totalled it doen't mean you can't keep and repair it. buyback is usually about 10% of total payout. so if they give you 15k, you can probably get 13 and keep the car. worth asking about. closest certifit is tampa. http://certifit.com/images/catalogs/catalog.pdf or you can peruse copart for another 5 series hit in the rear or mechanical problem https://www.copart.com/lot/25961719

All of that is correct the bigger issue is the pool of insurers is very small and much more of an expense. Pretty difficult here in Florida to do that, plus it's already been updated to the national database as a totaled vehicle. Just time to move it out and get something else.
