Since he had no knowledge or documentation of the work done other than it was restored, it seemed super sketchy. I never acused him it was a scam, I just implied it with all the questions I was asking.
It's certainly a good idea to back out from that deal, unless you wanted a '71 that was converted to a '78 or later rear clip.

Given what we can see from the photos, however, I have no doubt it was a '71 that was converted (not "restored") in '81 to a more recent body-style.
