Default Coil Springs - with AC / without AC?

1973 Coupe, L48, 4-speed

Can anyone explain the difference between AC Delco replacement coil springs which are specified as "with AC" and "without AC". I'm guessing that there is a slight weight difference so the springs are different, but it doesn't seem like the weight would be enough to make a difference.

The reason for the question is that our "new" vehicle (which arrived via tow truck!) looks like it had factory air, but almost everything has been stripped out except the factory controls inside. We are going to replace the AC components eventually, but was just wondering why there are two distinctly different spring specifications. The other potential reason is some sort of fitment issue that is different on AC v. non-AC models. I can't imagine that this would be the case, but instead of guessing I thought I'd ask.

Just weight. More than you think with compressor, brackets, hoses, evaporator and condenser.

Makes sense - thanks for the quick response. I went with the stronger springs.

Yep, I did a ton of stuff to lighten my car when I first got it, including ripping out all AC components. made a HUGE difference in how much higher the car sat. I cut my springs down with a grinder.
