BTW, if you have any questions on maintenance on that 308, drop me a PM. I have wrenched on mine since 1984,and you don't want to pay someone do do a tuneup on that. It isn't hard, its just time consuming. The AC never works on these cars for long, a lot of people leave the factory York compressor off because it is a total PITA to R&R for timing belt changes and its heavy, or will put an aftermarket comp on.

Another tip on the 3x8: until the trans fluid warms up, never try to force it into 2nd gear. Always shift from 1st to 3rd until fluids warm up. Otherwise you'll lunch the tranny.

I have a 67 & a 70 Corvette with origional AC using R 12 & both still work fine. I Don't remember if I ever had them serviced or added R 12. Have owned the 67 since 1780 & the 70 since 1985. Why do you say they don't work for long.

The Ferrari AC system never worked well in these cars, even when new. It's a known "thing" in the Ferrari 3x8 world. Just like the Porsche 911 AC systems.....they work fine with outdoor temps in the low 80's. Beyond that, you don't bother. Just open the windows, remove the top and enjoy mother nature in one of Enzo's best creations.

Cool Ferrari, right from the days of my youth! All in all, I thought most Corvette prices were down a bit. Of course I didnt attend as I had planned to, so I could not see the cars in person. Mother inlaw came in for a visit, ruining my plans. But that's ok, she behaved herself. Lol. Look at the white L88 that sold, under 300k. I thought that was a tad low. That LT-1 was crazy!

It's crazy how we value automobiles in general, but a particular option??

In concept and functionality, how different is air conditioning versus a rear window defroster?

Depends where you live.

What if you couldn't get a rear window defroster with an LT-1 until the last week of 72 production?

That f--/n car might go for a billion dollars.

Don't think that's how it works. It not only has to be rare but desirable. I had A 69 Corvette that had a option that only 824 cars of all years had.& it wasn't worth that much more than one without it.

There were 2 72 verts there. One sold Thursday for 185 and the 2000 mile car sold Saturday for 115 or 125 I can't remember. Both were red but one had a/c the 2000 car did not

Have you gave any thought to Euro spec bumpers yet?
The wheel and tires make this car.....

But it just happened. Yes, air conditioning can be desirable but is it worth $130,000 to not get that lower back sweat going on when you drive?

It's a comfort feature. Amazing. I wouldn't own a car without a tilt column, but I can live without air conditioning.

You and me just have the wrong options evidently.

And can we split this thread into 2 threads? The original LT-1 and the Italian car thread - people are getting confused.

Anyone interested in the Italian car chat please see us there. Everyone else, resume shock over the insane purchase that made me start this thread inthe first place!
