I'll be the opposing side I guess. I had chambered exhaust on my 73 (pretty much stock engine) and it was just too loud. If that's not in your vocabulary then definitely go with them.

I liked the ski-boat burble but on a car that can get beat by a minivan I felt like I was writing checks I couldn't cash. And also that my neighbors were probably plotting my death.

BTW...I thought the back of the car looked much cleaner with the potatoes and the spare tire carrier removed.......the chambered muffs at the end looked great!

1979 with a stock engine, chambered exhaust. We always use the 1973 rear muffler hangers on these... there is a tang on them that'll have to be flattened out but they work great for this application. Again, you'll also have to change the transmission hanger to which ever application is appropriate based on the year, to a 2.5" hanger. Other solutions is to remove the trans hanger and then you can cut it so that you can open it up to 2.5" but I'd advise just going with the replacement one. Funny, I'll post the link to the trans mount later, for some reason it's not showing up on our site. I'll fix that tonight.

This is the kit you'd want.... But I'd go with the chambered II, the chambered I is too loud in my humble opinion; The chambered II has resonators and mufflers and is the same mellow sound that I've posted in the video above.

I have the chambered 2 on my 72 SBC and what an improvement over the stock system

ok so the chambered system is 2.5", but it bolts up to stock manifolds? does it also allow for the use of the factory 68 exhaust tips?

68’ system was 2 1/2” from the factory....69’ went 2” across the board....

2 1/2 bolted right up to 69’ car.

Yes... As long as you order it by the year and have the stock manifolds you'll get the right kit. After 1965 GM never made a small block car with 2.5" exhaust manifolds, but the exhaust still jetted out to 2.5 on many cars. Even my 70 LT-1 has 2" exhaust manifolds and then runs out to 2.5 the rest of the way back. So you'll be safe as long as you know the manifolds are original and as long as you tell us what year the car is.... and yes you can run the stock exhaust tips.
