Another Fake 900 Tuxedo Black 69....
So here is a 69 with a stunning color combo and side pipes for sale- vin 194379s734937. Tuxedo black with bright blue interior. The problem is if you look at the trim tag you can tell it is definitely a repo.

BTW here is an old listing with the original trim tag showing lemans blue exterior

If this car is a real sidepipe car its still worth in the ballpark of what the seller is asking provided the original tag is with the car. If not then it really is a shame. A potentially good original car ruined by stupidity. Still a nice car, just not original anymore.

Well while we are at it. I ran across this one on a Vette for sale 1971:
The "C" and the "9" are off and I can see the pop rivet shaft left in the rivet, correct? Are these reproducing or I am paying more attention??? Thanks Ike

Until you emboss or stamp reproduction on that trim tag your relying on money hungry people to tell the truth

How could this statement possibly be construed as fraud?

I was also wondering about the fraud term. I made my 69 black instead of silver but have no intentions on removing trim tag. If I did to reflect the new color I would certainly give the buyer the original tag. I think the term tuxedo black needs some clarification I mean I painted my car black period. Not everyone is money hungry maybe just a fair price based on the amount of work and quality of work.

Bet the majority of buyers go by condition and inital impression and could give a hoot what some tag says unless the were buying an L88 or the like.

so why did the builder buy a fake tag to fool someone. anyone who is spending money on a collector car better be checking numbers.

Buyers can think what they like, but if they think they are buying a real code 900 car for what a color change car should sell for, they are going to be disappointed.

I'm wondering if the seller will take some $100 bills I have altered-
Just because they stated as $10 bills and I reprinted them - they look great...Plus Franklin is more popular than Hamilton....
Sorry- anyway you want to look at it- I say it's fraud.
Trying to dupe an untrained eye- just like a $10 that looks like a $100 to an unsuspecting person.

I started this post because the add said original colors and I noticed the repo trim tag. I found the old listing showing the original tag. Once the seller was confronted with the discrepancy he changed the listing to reflect the repo tag, but it wasn't listed like that originally. Also, there is nothing wrong with changing the color of your car to black if you like. The issue is when an owner or a future dealer/owner changes it by adding a repo trim tag then misrepresents it as a original.
