I bought a set in 2014,probably from the vendor you mentioned. Based in Texas? They solved the problem and work very well.

Default Update

Got the new rear compartment frames painted up and glued the new carpet to the compartment doors. The rear compartment is now done. I should have the seats installed today. I decided to do a restoration on the seats rails first though. I'll post pics of that soon. Also I have the main dash shell installed. Pics on that coming this evening.

Default Pins that go through compartment doors

Hi did you have to mess with the long pin that goes through the compartment doors to get them to lay correctly and close right?

I replaced the pins and they were a pain to get through the holes. I used a pair of lineman pliers to force them through. If one of the ends of the pins get bent they will not let the door close properly so you either have to cut the end off or use pliers to straighten it out. As long as the ends are straight the doors should close fine.

Where did you source the seat covers and carpets?

The MYTH that the hinges need replacing is just that. Please search for my article on Renewing the rear hinges and rear window. I'll look for it in a while.
The hinges have reached their yield point by now....you can readjust the hatch and they will give you ANOTHER 37 years of service.
I did mine over three years ago and they haven't moved a millimeter since then.

good luck CE brothers.

I have a 1982 CE and am having issues with my read hatch hinges as well. I now have a slight gap between the window and the seal that obviously allows water in. I've seen the articles stating that the issues is because over time the hinges stretch, not sure if that it true or not, but I now have a gap issue. Trying to find new replacement rear hinges is like finding a needle in a haystack. I'd appreciate any insight you have in adjusting the rear hinges I have or finding new "steel" hinges to replace the ones I have. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. SKOL28
