Vette Etiquette
Grew up working on Chevys (57 first car), but for the past 30 years (yes old guy), have had several Jags. I was always in the habit of waving to other Jags, but rarely did any wave back. Now I guess if they were young women I’d understand, but I’ve noticed while driving the 72 coupe,( I’ve owned it for about 7 months), not only do most of the Vettes wave back, but non Vettes issue thumbs up and waves, etc.
I believe it is because even non car people recognize an American icon and it brings them joy to see it on the road. My car is certainly not a show car and is just slightly modified so I’m certain it’s not specific to mine.
Do you you guys/gals wave to other Vettes? Any interesting stories?
I have come to the conclusion that I don’t really own this Vette, I’m just the current caretaker that will take good care of it and ultimately it will end up in someone elses care....but. only when I’m dead!

I always wave at other Vettes. I usually get a wave back, sometimes a very enthusiastic one.
I don't return waves from non-Vettes, but I may give a thumbs or okay sign back. If I see a C3 and I'm NOT in my Vette, I'll give a thumbs or okay sign.
Save the wave!

Back in my "Volkswagen" days.... I noticed a similar camaraderie, getting waves and "peace" signs from every other VW out there. I thought it was cool. When we get our Vette finished & on the road, I will continue that fellowship. Here`s our first fiberglass car, what I called "The poor man`s Vette".....

I was stuck on the side of a not-very-traveled road last Saturday and not only did the passing Corvette drivers NOT wave, but they didn't even stop to offer help. A few old people did stop and offer to help, and no- they weren't driving C7s.
To answer your question, yes, I wave and I don't care if they wave back.

I support the Corvette Wave all the time. I can’t drive the C3 anywhere without waves, thumbs up, and smiles seen on passing motorists faces. You simply don’t see many C3’s on the road around here, so I think people really dig it. The first day we had the car (last summer) I was approached while getting gas by a driver who used to own a ‘70 Coupe and had questions about our ‘72. I can’t say I have any really interesting stories to tell, but I can say I enjoy driving a car that I’ve wanted for nearly fifty years and finally own.
PS cor66vette, if you ever need help around here, I’ll stop in a heartbeat. We should really stick together and help each other whenever we can. Save the wave.

I guess it is all how you are raised . For the early part of my driving life I lived in an area where every car you past would wave . And the whole dune buggy wave was there as well . But the one that beats them all is the famous motorcycle wave. I have been riding for years , and my left is like Popeye. Lol .

I wave when in my or my wife’s vette at other vettes.
I also wave at bikes when on my Harley or on my Lambretta.
if we make eye contact and you do not wave back, I feel bad for you.
that is just life!

I get a lot of waves. I wave at alot of 60's and 70's cars. Its great to see all the old iron running around. We were up at the beach and were winding down at a gas station when a guy came wondering over to ask about out 2 vettes. This guy had me rolling on the ground laughing my *** off. He had the greatest stories.
I also love all the old stories the old timers have when they bought their cars back in the 60' and 70s

I always wave in my Corvette, but response is only about 20%, rarely do C6's or C7's wave back, unlike when I'm on the Harley, then it's 100%, even though some of us riders are getting so old that it's dangerous to take one hand off the bars, they / we still wave.
